When: March 24th & April 7th,
2010 1900 to 2200 hrs
Where: Confederation Seniors Centre 4595 Albert
St
(Just North of Hastings St. and Willingdon Ave.)
Our
opening speaker will be Ted Vesak who will present a
history of the remote and beautiful coastal
community of Ocean Falls. Located at the head of
Cousins Inlet of Dean Channel, northwest of Bella
Coola, this community has had a strong dependency
upon marine travel for its survival. From 1909 to
1981 Ocean Falls was a flourishing pulp mill. Today,
the community is reinventing itself as a destination
for boaters, experienced hikers and mountain bikers,
fishing and soothing your old boating bones in near
by Eucott Bay Hot Springs.
Our
closing guest speakers for March 24th,
2010 and a follow-up session on Wednesday April 7th,
2010 are Brad Mah from Ocean Yacht Equipment and
Jeff Cote from Pacific Yacht Systems. They are
fellow Burnabyites who provide sales, service and
installation of marine products and equipment. They
are located at #185-5489 Byrne Road in Burnaby.
Their main presentation will be on boat electrical
systems and electronics with a focus on AC/DC
Electrical and Galvanic corrosion. Brad will also
give us an update on Boating week BC April 12th
to the 18th and the special promotions
being offered to boaters.
