Four Boats and 21 crew on
garbage detail
June 5th, 2004
Environment Week
at Iron Bay, Indian Arm, BC
The site was chosen because it is
accessible primarily by water and occasionally
by a four-wheel drive. Along the trail and on
the beach there was evidence of several
campsites and of logging in the area. The search
ended with several garbage bags full of 190
pounds of garbage consisting of plastics, wire,
beer and pop cans, an inflatable mattress,
broken glass and a car bumper.
It was a successful first
time event combining camaraderie, an enjoyable
trip by water and cleanup of an area which has
been neglected to date.
