Lest we forget

REMEMBRANCE DAY

November 11, 2011

 

This November 11, please join us at Belcarra Park for the Remembrance Day ceremonies with the Port Moody Power & Sail Squadron.

Come by boat or car.

               If you come by car:

  • Please remain on the fixed pier going to the dock. This will be the main viewing area. With increasing numbers in attendance, it has become difficult to have everyone on the lower dock.

  • Veterans and their families however are welcome on the west dock, if they wish.

  • Please leave the area at the northwest dock empty so that people can see.

     If  you come by boat:

  • All communications are on VHF 69 — Contact and raftup vessel is Big Booty.

  • All docking and rafting to commence at 09:00 and MUST be finished by 10:00 hrs.

  • Vessels arriving after will be asked to drop anchor and shut engines off .

     Schedule of activities:

  • The formal ceremony will commence at 10:35 hours with the sounding of an air raid siren.

  • Ceremony & address

  • Flanders Fields (Alan Barrie)

  • Prayer (Craig Neil)

  • Last Post

  • 2 Minutes of Silence (11:00 hours) (Squadron and other wreaths presented during the address will be laid at this time)

  • Ceremony closing and fly over (weather permitting, there will be a fly over by John Northey and his air squadron
