What a blast!
The Canada Day cruise to Genoa Bay Marina was an
excellent event. Twelve boats attended a sunny, warm
weekend of fun in a beautiful marina, with
complementary breakfasts to boot. Abacus, Promises,
Tuppence and Lapland arrived a day early and were
there to greet the rest of us who came along
throughout Friday: Sherri Lee II, Hale Kai, Mieer,
Palaran, Polaris, Shannon, Tanager, Maple Leaf. The
breeze was pleasant and allowed some of us to enjoy
the short dinghy ride to the town of Cowichan Bay
for a little sight-seeing. There is an interesting
mix of shops, working docks and a boating museum.
Friday night, a group of cruisers gathered on Sherri
Lee II for a rousing sing-a-long till the wee hours
of the morning. Pat M. was the host extraordinaire
as he strummed his guitar to the point of blistering
his thumb. Some very fit individuals hiked their way
to Maple Bay (an hour each way) while others just
went to the end of the bay. Jared and Jordan
C. tried their luck with some fishing tackle but
chose not to land the dogfish they hooked. Most
cruisers were continuing their journeys in different
directions the following week but the two days we
all spent together was a good start to our boating
vacations. Thank you to Cruisemaster Leon B. for
making the arrangements and to the marina staff for
our enjoyable stay (great breakfast).
