Canada Day Cruise Report 2010
This years Canada Day Cruise was to Ganges on
Saltspring Island. There were six boats in
attendance and four members arrived by land yacht.
There were a total of 15 participants. It is always
nice to see members who were unable to attend on
their own boat still attend either by Land Yacht or
by crewing on other boats. The boats and their crews
were as follows.

The weather was cool for the end of June. The
skies were overcast with a wind from the southeast.
The rain held off and the sun did make an occasional
appearance.
On July 1st we had appetizers on a
small patio at the top of the dock next to the
marina office. While the companionship was excellent
the wind was cool. Terry and Penny kindly offered
the hospitably of their boat. So we gathered what
remained of our food and drinks and gathered on the
Family Affair lV. Later in the evening there was a
fireworks display that we could watch from either
the dock or our boats. It was quite spectacular and
the folks that put it on did a very good job.
On July 2nd we held our potluck up
near the marina office. As the wind continued to
blow, we moved to the leeward side of the marina
office. This proved to be a more pleasant location.
As usual, the food and the companionship were
excellent.
A part from the appetizers and potluck we were
able to keep busy exploring the sights, attractions
and shops in and around Ganges. Of course that
included Mouat’s Trading Co. With the official part
of the cruise over on July 3rd some
remained while other left for other locations in the
Gulf Islands or home.
