Canadian Power and Sail Squadron's Boating Basics course provides you with the basics of legal and safe boating practices to standards prescribed by the Canadian Coast Guard. The 8-hour course overview is intended for the operators and crews of small vessels and covers a wide range of subjects including types and characteristics of boats, mandatory and suggested on-board safety equipment, emergency equipment and procedures, marine rules of the road, Canadian aids to navigation , boat maintenance and weather tips.

After passing the Boating Basics course exam you will receive a Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) valid for life as permanent proof of boating competency and you will be eligible to become a CPS Associate member.

   

Past Boating Course Graduates may obtain a PCOC Card by calling CPS National Headquarters @ 1-888-277-2628 toll free, with a payment of $20.00.
